This is the story of a girl that takes A LOT of pictures. When we walked around new places, she'd take a picture; every time we got food at a restaurant, she'd take a picture; every 5 minutes as I was driving, "Stop, stop, stop, I want to take a picture!" And not just that, there were multiple pictures of the exact same thing. "When will you stop taking pictures of me?" "When you smile!" As a person that takes almost zero pictures (especially of myself), this was a new experience for me.

Oh hello. Now I officially have a Georgian ID. Does that make me one of the cool kids?

It was an amazing day! The weather was perfect. The view was amazing. The brief hike was to die for. I'm so happy I'm out here instead of Tbilisi (sorry Tbilisi lovers).

ვარძია (Vardzia): home of a bunch of cave houses. And more recently, home of warrior monks. This region of Georgia was invaded A LOT: The Persians, the Mongols, the Ottomans.... In order to fend off invaders, the locals started living on the sides of cliffs and underground. Some subterranean homes can be found in adjacent villages.

მწვანი მონასტერი (The Green Monastery) is a nice, secluded place in ბორჯომი (Borjomi). It's surrounded by forested mountains. And people apparently like to use the local fountain as a wishing well. There are also a few sculls on display. I think the locals I was with said they are sculls of saints (but my Georgian is terrible so that might not be what they said). In any case, it's a nice place to visit. And the surrounding forest's fantastic for picnics... which we did afterwards. 10 out of 10; would 100% recommend.

I'm so grateful I'm somewhere I can go outside, and walk around during the day. And that's exactly what I did today. One of my hosts is normally a tour guide. So I got a free tour of Old Tbilisi.
